Have you ever found yourself wishing for more inspiration to teach composition? Do you lack a vision in how to really approach the subject? To really "sell" it to the children? What can you do to capture your children's interest in it? Or maybe you have the interest, but lack the time you need to get things together and do justice to it.
Composition is an enjoyable, necessary, and very worthwhile subject, even though it requires more work than the regular English lesson. Since both my pupils and I enjoy composition, my heart goes out to the many teachers who are too busy or lack a vision of how to teach it. That is why I have attempted to share in this book what I have found to work successfully to create a hunger for composition in my pupils. This book deals more with when and how to effectively present composition—to arouse the pupils' interest in the subject—rather than all the proper rules for it. I will leave that to your English text.
